Bearing in mind that we are talking about a traditional and artisanal production, it is logical that the utmost attention should be paid to each of the stages of the process. Let's go through them.

THE ADDED VALUE OF MADE-TO-MEASURE GARMENTS

The first step will be to take the measurements of the customer, who will be able to choose from a wide range of fabric samples. Contrary to what happens with pret a porter clothing, in the case of custom-made shirts, taking measurements with a tape measure will be the first step and the basic characteristic of the tailoring process that we follow in Camisería Burgos. The measurements to be taken are as follows:  Camisería Burgos

  • The tape measure is passed around the neck to obtain the measurement that corresponds to each client.
  • The length of the sleeves is then measured. From the end of the sleeve to the end of the wrist.
  • To measure the circumference, the tape measure is passed under the arms, over the most prominent part of the bust.
  • In the case of the chest, to measure the chest, the tape measure should be passed under the armpits and adjusted to the contour.
  • The waist is measured at the height where the trousers would reach, more or less at the navel, normally the widest part.
  • Hips: the measuring tape goes around the hips at the most protruding part to avoid the shirt being too tight and too tight.
  • The overall length is the distance from the collar seam to the edge of the shirt.
  • Arm measurements are from shoulder to cuff, with the arm positioned at 90 degrees, in an L-shape.
  • The cuffs are measured as close to the wrists as possible, taking into account that a few centimetres will be added later.
  • Finally, the shoulder drop is measured from the neck to the end of the shoulder.

With the above measurements, the pattern is drawn and cut on paper and then transferred to the fabric, where it is cut by hand. The exact measurements are included in the customer file so that they can be taken into account for future orders of made-to-measure shirts.
