camisas de frac How to distinguish quality tailcoat shirts? What's more, how to distinguish in general a top quality shirt, a garment so important in both men's and women's clothing? We look at it in this new post of our blog which, as always, we invite you to read carefully.

There are a few basic aspects to pay attention to. The first is the fabric. To know if the shirt we have in front of us is of quality, the first thing to look at is the fabric. The material should be 100% natural, cotton, linen, silk or wool. The mixture with polyester reduces the quality, elegance and durability of the shirt and we at Camisería Burgos have always been clear about that. If we choose cotton, bear in mind that the longer the fibre is, the higher the quality will be. For example, Egyptian cotton is an example of cotton whose raw material has extra-long fibres, which makes it an excellent quality cotton.  Camisería Burgos

Another aspect to pay attention to is the thread of the fabric. It can be single or double-ply, but good quality shirts use double-ply yarn. It is actually the union of two threads twisted together which results in a more consistent base. If you are looking for higher quality, this will have to be 2X2, that is, with two-ply yarn and also with weft (horizontal yarns) and warp (vertical yarns). Other factors to take into account are the thickness of the yarn and the yarn density per inch. Based on this, the finer the yarn, the higher the yarn density per inch, and thus the higher the quality of the shirt fabric.

In addition to the above, if the shirt is of a striped or checked fabric, these should be matched on the yoke and sleeve, on pockets and on the main seams. Good quality buttons are made of mother-of-pearl (mother-of-pearl) and never of plastic. On the other hand, if the shirt has buttonholes and other seams made by hand, it will also be a quality plus compared to machine sewn shirts.

SEAMS, A KEY ASPECT OF QUALITY SHIRTS

To distinguish a good quality shirt, it is also important to look at the seams. For example, by inspecting the side seam, you can see whether there is one seam visible or two. Higher quality shirts have only one seam visible, tight and narrow. This indicates finer workmanship on the part of the manufacturer and will prevent puckering when washing and drying the garment. The number of stitches in a seam is also important. The more stitches, the stronger, more flexible and more elegant the shirt will be.

COLLAR AND CUFFS

They should be stiffer than the fabric of the shirt and should preferably be tightly woven and not thermo-fastened. They should be firm but not stiff, they should also be flexible and easily rounded and fit the silhouette of the collar or cuff.
